Welcome to Homeroom.
This newsletter from Abridged by PBS KVIE reporter Savannah Kuchar is for parents, grandparents or anyone helping bring up the next generation in the Sacramento region.
Have you ever asked, “How was school today?” yet still been left wanting to know more about what’s going on in the classroom or on campus?
Landing in inboxes Sunday evenings starting in August, Homeroom is all about the latest in school happenings and student/parent experiences. It’s an extension of the rich education reporting Abridged has brought readers since launch, from the use of artificial intelligence in K-12 learning to the consequences of a local school district’s budget crisis.
But we know life for families goes on outside of school, too.
That’s why along with education coverage, Homeroom will feature stories from contributor Carolyn Becker, who highlights issues like the increasingly competitive culture of youth sports and shares parenting tips such as how to approach allowances.
The newsletter will also include direct insights into the daily lives of students from Roseville to Elk Grove, Woodland to Placerville, in their own voices. Plus, it will have a regular round-up of events for families across the area.
All of it will be free to access.
Sign up in the form below (or click here) to receive Homeroom, starting early August. We’ll reach out soon with more details.
Have any feedback, recommendations or thoughts on what would be most helpful for your family at the start of each week? Send me an email at skuchar@kvie.org or include your thoughts when you sign up.
