- Abridged by PBS KVIE and Amatoria Fine Art Books in Midtown Sacramento partnered to bring you “The Stacks,” a new local concert series filmed at the bookstore on 19th and F streets.
- Every two weeks starting Thursday, we’ll release a full-length, 30-minute concert, a single and a Q&A with a local musician or band on the Abridged YouTube channel.
- You’ll be able to discover local artists and connect with fellow Sacramento music, art and book lovers through meaningful conversation.
The Sacramento art and music scene is an “if you know, you know” kind of place, an intricately connected web of creative minds populating dive bars, art galleries, front porches, backyards and living rooms.
There’s an indefinable buzz that comes from the discovery of a neighbor’s talent, an almost magical realization that beauty is, at all times, so close to home. It’s not so dissimilar from opening a book that transports you into another world without leaving your seat.
That feeling guides “The Stacks,” a new local concert and conversation series meant to connect neighbor-to-neighbor through music, the backdrop a rotating art gallery tucked comfortably into a 1,200-square-foot bookshop at the corner of 19th and F streets.

Premiere of ‘The Stacks’ with Rituals of Mine ft. Lab Rats
“The Stacks” premieres Thursday with a jaw-dropping, heart-string-tugging, utterly entertaining performance from Rituals of Mine, ft. Lab Rats. You can watch it here.
Then, dive deeper with lead singer Terra Lopez through a Q&A with Amatoria owner Miranda Culp.

Who performs ‘The Stacks’ next?
There’s much more to come as we continue our concert and conversation series at Amatoria.
We’ve already recorded a handful of not-yet-released shows, including local folk duo Åna Tri and American psych-rock group The Snares. We also hosted Mike Blanchard and the Californios, bringing Americana tunes to the bookshop. Last but certainly not least, Sacramento rapper Jakhari Smith brought passionate, personal storytelling to a live audience just last week.
We’ll release the videos over the coming months. Follow us on YouTube and Substack to be among the first to know.

Every band performs in front of a small, live audience at Amatoria.
Next up, we’re welcoming Anton Barbeau on Wednesday, Aug. 12. He’s from Sacramento but lived abroad for 15 years, becoming a luminary of the English rock scene.
You can buy tickets to his show through Amatoria’s Eventbrite page. Everything but the processing fee goes to the artists. Doors open at 6 p.m. and close promptly at 6:30 p.m. After the show, you’ll have the chance to mingle with the band and nosh on free snacks, wine, beer and bubbly water while wandering through Miranda’s carefully curated stacks.
