On the literary front, a celebration for the book release of “WELGA: A Filipino American Playwright’s Journey” will be held Aug. 9 (Sunday) at All City Homes in North Oak Park. It’s a memoir from Conrad A. Panganiban that includes such works as “WELGA,” a powerful coming-of-age tale that connects to the 1965 Delano Grape Strike and was just added to the Smithsonian Library at the National Museum of American History. Playwrights of all backgrounds shouldn’t miss this opportunity.
