Community Connections: Celebrating Archives Month
As part of National Archives Month this October, Community Connections: Celebrating Archives Month will take place on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The event will take place upstairs on the Tsakopoulos Library Galleria Balcony, where visitors can enjoy interactive activities and connect with community, arts, and cultural organizations including:
The Brazilian Center for Cultural Exchange of Sacramento
Hmong Youth and Parents United
The Washington Neighborhood Center
Sacramento Valley Chapter of Germans from Russia (SVCGR)
Irish Heritage Society of Sacramento
St. HOPE Public Schools
The Caribbean Basin Institute for Education and Culture (CBIEC). The Caribbean Basin Institute for Education and Culture (CBIEC) Vision is to promote cultural understanding and appreciation of the Caribbean Islands and their indigenous peoples.
The Internet Archive. The Internet Archive is a non-profit digital library offering free universal access to texts, movies & music, as well as 624 billion archived web pages.
Activities include:
A bookmark making station and a Dia de Los Muertos informational/coloring page sponsored by The Washington Neighborhood Center.
Visitors will discover unique items from our special collections. Selections will include local history materials and highlights from our Book Arts Collection. We’re featuring creative and unusual book forms such as miniature books, collage, pop-up elements, and other examples of books as art.
We invite anyone with an interest in Sacramento’s diverse communities, the arts and history to attend this free interactive event.
