Drawing inspiration from personal experiences and social issues, Jakhari Smith’s music is a captivating blend of raw emotions and thought-provoking storytelling. His warm, powerful poetry backed up by live band connects him to his audiences in a uniquely intimate way.
After his set, Jakhari will sit down with KVIE’s own Natachi Mez for a Q&A where they will chat about poetry, reading and the Sac hip hop scene. Natachi Mez is a Nigerian-Igbo American spoken word poet, emcee, and teaching artist based in Sacramento. She works as an Abridged Community Reporter for PBS KVIE, producing stories and interactive experiences that celebrate local joy, community voice, and culture.
