Women’s Empowerment is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year as the most comprehensive job-readiness program in the Sacramento area designed specifically to help women break the generational cycle of homelessness for themselves and their children. Each woman begins with a nine-week employment-readiness and empowerment program that includes free transportation assistance, onsite childcare, group classes, and one-on-one work with a social worker, housing navigator, job developer and volunteer career mentor. Each woman who graduates from the nine-week program can return for services at any point in her life when she needs additional tools, including paid job training and transitional workforce housing.
Since 2001, more than 2,000 women have graduated from the program with their 4,000+ children. Women’s Empowerment is funded through private donations from the community and grants. To learn more and make a donation: www.womens-empowerment.org.
