DESCRIPTION:Celebrate 25 years of empowering Sacramento women and children to rise from homelessness at Women’s Empowerment’s Silver Anniversary Gala on Sept. 25. Tickets and sponsorships are available for the event that will take place at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento\, 1230 J Street\, at 5:30pm and will include a cocktail hour\, live music\, silent and live auctions\, an inspirational program and a three-course meal. To purchase tickets or a table\, sponsor the event or sponsor a graduate to attend: www.womens-empowerment.org/gala. \nWomen’s Empowerment is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year as the most comprehensive job-readiness program in the Sacramento area designed specifically to help women break the generational cycle of homelessness for themselves and their children. Each woman begins with a nine-week employment-readiness and empowerment program that includes free transportation assistance\, onsite childcare\, group classes\, and one-on-one work with a social worker\, housing navigator\, job developer and volunteer career mentor. Each woman who graduates from the nine-week program can return for services at any point in her life when she needs additional tools\, including paid job training and transitional workforce housing. \nSince 2001\, more than 2\,000 women have graduated from the program with their 4\,000+ children. This October 2nd-4th\, for the 63rd year\, the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church will welcome generations of Sacramentans to the church grounds on Alhambra to embrace the traditions we love.\nThe Greek Festival kicks off with “Friday Funday” $3 admission on October 2nd from 11am to 3pm.\nAn important update: this year\, the Sacramento Greek Festival will be cashless.\nAnnunciation food booths\, the Pandepoleon\, and Festival Souvenirs Booth will only accept credit card\, debit card\, and contactless payment (Apple pay\, Google pay\, Samsung pay). The Annunciation Bookstore and all other third-party vendors in “The Agora” may take cash\, card\, or contactless payment at their discretion. \nGreek Dancers will take the stage throughout the weekend. Festival attendees dance the nights away to traditional live Greek music from Mythos Band\, and DJ Chris Perris spinning the latest hits from the Greek Islands.\nGuests will enjoy indoor and outdoor dining experiences on the spacious church grounds with tents for shade and plenty of seating.

Local chefs\, bakers\, and businesses will share their creative takes on the classic campfire treat\, and guests will sample each creation before voting to crown the “S’more of the Year.” \nWhile the s’mores may bring everyone together\, the purpose behind the event is what truly matters. Every ticket purchased and every dollar raised helps ensure that children\, families\, and older adults throughout our community have access to YMCA programs that build confidence\, improve health\, create belonging\, and provide opportunities regardless of financial circumstances. \nS’moresfest is a chance to celebrate the incredible businesses and community members who come together to support the Y\, reconnect with friends\, make new memories\, and invest in a stronger Sacramento for all. \nWe hope you’ll join us around the campfire and be part of something that makes a lasting difference.
