SUMMARY:Capital Cake Swap
DESCRIPTION:Sacramento Cake Lovers Unite! \nCome out & join the fun at Drake’s: The Barn for the inaugural Dames Capital Cake Swap. Show off your baking skills or support your favorite local bakery. Walk the array of cakes of all flavors and styles and fill your box with slices of delight! \nAll proceeds will support the local chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier International & its mission of advancing women in the fields of food\, agriculture\, fine beverage\, and hospitality through education\, mentorship and philanthropy. \nInspired by the wildly popular Cake Picnic events that have captivated dessert lovers across the country\, the Capital Cake Swap will bring together 250 cake enthusiasts for an afternoon celebrating creativity\, community\, and\, of course\, cake. \nHere’s how it works: Each ticket holder brings a cake—either homemade or purchased—to share. After admiring the impressive display of cakes\, participants will fill a take-home box with their favorite selections. The event promises a festive atmosphere where bakers and cake\nlovers alike can connect over a shared love of dessert. \nCapital Cake Swap is more than just an afternoon of cake—it’s an opportunity to bring our community together to celebrate baking\, creativity\, and the people who make Sacramento’s food scene so special\,” said Jami Babcock\, a member of Les Dames d’Escoffier Sacramento and lead organizer of the event. \nWhether someone bakes an elaborate showpiece or picks up a favorite cake from a local bakery\, everyone will leave with a wonderful assortment of cake while helping support the next generation of women in food\, beverage\, agriculture\, and hospitality. Les Dames d’Escoffier International is a worldwide organization of women leaders dedicated to supporting the next generation of professionals through scholarships\, grants\, mentoring\, and community engagement. SUMMARY:Sacramento Greek Festival
DESCRIPTION:Since 1963\, the treasured community event has shared the culture of Greece through live entertainment\, dancing and a delicious menu of authentic cuisine and wine.\nWhat started as a small parish afternoon gathering in 1963 has grown into one of the region’s most beloved cultural traditions — the Sacramento Greek Festival — three days of authentic Greek food\, wine\, live music\, dance\, and oikogeneia (family). This October 2nd-4th\, for the 63rd year\, the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church will welcome generations of Sacramentans to the church grounds on Alhambra to embrace the traditions we love.\nThe Greek Festival kicks off with “Friday Funday” $3 admission on October 2nd from 11am to 3pm.\nAn important update: this year\, the Sacramento Greek Festival will be cashless.\nAnnunciation food booths\, the Pandepoleon\, and Festival Souvenirs Booth will only accept credit card\, debit card\, and contactless payment (Apple pay\, Google pay\, Samsung pay). The Annunciation Bookstore and all other third-party vendors in “The Agora” may take cash\, card\, or contactless payment at their discretion. \nGreek Dancers will take the stage throughout the weekend. Festival attendees dance the nights away to traditional live Greek music from Mythos Band\, and DJ Chris Perris spinning the latest hits from the Greek Islands.\nGuests will enjoy indoor and outdoor dining experiences on the spacious church grounds with tents for shade and plenty of seating.

SUMMARY:S'moresfest 2026
DESCRIPTION:Grab your flannel\, gather your camp crew\, and join us for S’moresfest 2026- an evening of community\, campfire fun\, and delicious s’mores\, all in support of the YMCA’s mission. \nOn Saturday\, October 10 at 5:30 PM\, the YMCA will host one of the most anticipated traditions of the evening: the S’mores Competition. Local chefs\, bakers\, and businesses will share their creative takes on the classic campfire treat\, and guests will sample each creation before voting to crown the “S’more of the Year.” \nWhile the s’mores may bring everyone together\, the purpose behind the event is what truly matters. Every ticket purchased and every dollar raised helps ensure that children\, families\, and older adults throughout our community have access to YMCA programs that build confidence\, improve health\, create belonging\, and provide opportunities regardless of financial circumstances. \nS’moresfest is a chance to celebrate the incredible businesses and community members who come together to support the Y\, reconnect with friends\, make new memories\, and invest in a stronger Sacramento for all. \nWe hope you’ll join us around the campfire and be part of something that makes a lasting difference.

SUMMARY:Brit Floyd at Hard Rock Live Sacramento
DESCRIPTION:From Cultural Capital by Chris Macias: \nI generally prefer original music over tribute bands\, but this one caught me off guard while couch surfing. I came across a presentation of Brit Floyd’s “The Moon\, The Wall and Beyond” on PBS KVIE and quickly put the remote down. I was struck at how closely Brit Floyd mirrored those classic Pink Floyd tracks and how it took me down a rabbit hole of memories\, including seeing the band’s 1988 concert at Sacramento City College’s Hughes Stadium. \nRoger Waters and David Gilmour aren’t going to reunite any time soon — if ever — so Brit Floyd is about the next best thing. Check them out Friday at the Hard Rock Live in Wheatland and dig into “The Moon\, The Wall and Beyond” once again. \nWant events like this sent directly to your inbox?
