DESCRIPTION:Hosted by the East Sac Record Rack\, Sacramento’s biggest vinyl record show is taking over the CLARA Arts Center in midtown for a day of fun for all ages! Join us for a day of community gathering that includes the Midtown Record Swap\, The Midtown Toy Show\, DJ HeyZeusGetLoose\, Live Music\, interactive Kids Zone\, Shakedown Street Vendor Fair\, Food\, Drinks & More! All for free!! \nJoin us Saturday June 6th\, from 10am-4pm as we expand beyond the Auditorium at CLARA\, to bring a day of fun across the campus at 24th and N Streets. With free onsite parking in the heart of downtown Sacramento\, the CLARA has been the perfect venue for us at The Midtown Record Swap. We look forward to this installment of the event and all of the added fun for vinyl lovers and beyond. \nThe MIDTOWN RECORD SWAP will still take place from 10-3 in the Auditorium at CLARA. You can expect another incredible lineup of collectors and independent record sellers offering thousands of new and used Vinyl Records\, Cassettes and CDs. This 3x yearly event has become Sacramento’s biggest record sale and has built a reputation for being the best time you can have while shopping for your music. \nThe Midtown Toy Show will take place in the Annex at CLARA. With its big windows and accessible space\, we’re happy to be utilizing another great feature of the CLARA. The Midtown Toy Show will include dozens of local collectors\, artists and vendors bringing you their coolest vintage and contemporary toys\, collector cards\, pop culture goodies and art. You can look forward to finding something fun for the whole family. \nOutside\, in the Courtyard at CLARA\, we’ve got an amazing lineup of attractions for the whole family. \nDJ HeyZeusGetLoose of the Sleeprockers Crew will be the MC and spinning all vinyl sets before and in between our lineup of live music. \nOur LIVE MUSIC lineup of artists includes some acoustic fun and sets from local bands. If you caught the afternoon of beautiful improvisational music at our last event\, you know you can expect to enjoy world class performances from local musicians. \nCome and shake it at our Shakedown Street Vendor Row\, featuring a curated lineup of local creatives\, makers and shakers. SUMMARY:Capital City Surf Clash III
DESCRIPTION:From Cultural Capital by Chris Macias: \nSacramento’s about to transform into “Surf City U.S.A.” The nearest ocean breaks might be down in the San Francisco Bay Area\, but bands will be riding a mighty musical wave at Café Colonial for “Capital City Surf Clash III.” The festival brings headliner 3LH from the Pacific Northwest with The Greasy Gills from Oakland\, along with local surf rockers The Me Gustas and DangerForce 5. \nSurf music has been a fixture of the River City for decades. In 1963\, the Beach Boys recorded a live album\, “Beach Boys Concert\,” at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium. The surf rock scene of the 1960s was boosted locally by such bands as The Jaguars and The Avengers. That torch of surf music was carried through the years with The Tiki Men\, who were fixtures of the local indie-rock scene in the 1990s\, along with The Pyronauts and the in-your-face punk approach from ¡Las Pulgas! \nThis third installment of “Capital City Surf Clash” features a spectrum of surfy sounds. Though the genre is known for its primarily instrumental and reverb-soaked tracks\, 3LH is the rare surf band to use vocals. \n“In some circles that would be a bit taboo\,” The Me Gustas guitarist Onedin “Odi” Giraldo said in an Instagram direct message. “But I love how surf music has influenced other genres.
