When paranormal investigator and college professor Macy Carter arrives at the infamous Smithfield House\, she expects little more than creaking floorboards\, cold drafts\, and overblown ghost stories. What she doesn’t expect is the ghost of Captain Daniel Smithfield—a charming 19th-century spirit whose past may be more tangled with the house than even he may realize.​As buried secrets rise to the surface and the walls of Smithfield House begin to reveal their history\, Macy finds herself caught between past and present\, logic and belief\, and a growing connection that defies time itself.
