SUMMARY:The Ghosts of Smithfield House: A New Original Musical
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Resurrection Theatre at the California Stage Complex in Midtown Sacramento\, running from Oct 9 – Oct 31st. \n\nEver wanted to feel like you stepped straight into an episode of your favorite supernatural series?A haunted house. A skeptical ghost hunter. A charming spirit with unfinished business. \n\n\nThe Ghosts of Smithfield House is a haunting new musical that blends mystery\, humor\, heart\, and the supernatural into an unforgettable theatrical experience. When paranormal investigator and college professor Macy Carter arrives at the infamous Smithfield House\, she expects little more than creaking floorboards\, cold drafts\, and overblown ghost stories. What she doesn’t expect is the ghost of Captain Daniel Smithfield—a charming 19th-century spirit whose past may be more tangled with the house than even he may realize. As buried secrets rise to the surface and the walls of Smithfield House begin to reveal their history\, Macy finds herself caught between past and present\, logic and belief\, and a growing connection that defies time itself. But not every spirit in the house is as welcoming\, and some ghosts prefer to keep the past exactly where it belongs.Part supernatural mystery\, part romantic comedy\, and full of haunting melodies and heartfelt surprises\, The Ghosts of Smithfield House invites audiences into a campy supernatural world where love\, loss\, and unfinished business refuse to stay buried.

SUMMARY:Anton Barbeau Live @ The Melon Ball
DESCRIPTION:From Cultural Capital by Chris Macias: \nAnton Barbeau’s smart\, quirky pop music has been a Sacramento fixture since the 1980s. Though he’s spent a chunk of time living overseas in England and Berlin\, Barbeau’s been back in California since 2020 and ever prolific in the studio. The release of his latest album\, “Come Home to Me\,” will be celebrated Friday at The Melon Ball in Davis\, with its influences that harken to Robyn Hitchcock and XTC. Fun fact: Colin Moulding and Dave Gregory from XTC perform on “Come Home to Me.” \nWant events like this sent directly to your inbox? SUMMARY:Brit Floyd at Hard Rock Live Sacramento
DESCRIPTION:From Cultural Capital by Chris Macias: \nI generally prefer original music over tribute bands\, but this one caught me off guard while couch surfing. I came across a presentation of Brit Floyd’s “The Moon\, The Wall and Beyond” on PBS KVIE and quickly put the remote down. I was struck at how closely Brit Floyd mirrored those classic Pink Floyd tracks and how it took me down a rabbit hole of memories\, including seeing the band’s 1988 concert at Sacramento City College’s Hughes Stadium. \nRoger Waters and David Gilmour aren’t going to reunite any time soon — if ever — so Brit Floyd is about the next best thing. Check them out Friday at the Hard Rock Live in Wheatland and dig into “The Moon\, The Wall and Beyond” once again. \nWant events like this sent directly to your inbox? SUMMARY:NY Voices and Sacramento City College
DESCRIPTION:An extraordinary chapter in vocal jazz comes to Sacramento City College. For nearly four decades\, New York Voices has helped define the sound and possibility of contemporary vocal jazz. Their unmistakable harmonies\, extraordinary musicianship\, and commitment to ensemble singing have carried them from concert halls and jazz festivals worldwide to collaborations with some of the most celebrated artists and ensembles in music. \nNow\, as New York Voices brings this remarkable musical journey to a close\, Sacramento City College welcomes the internationally acclaimed ensemble for The Grand Finale\, a rare Sacramento appearance on their farewell tour.
