The Abridged version:
- The Sacramento-native band CAKE will play three shows in 2026 at Midtown Sacramento’s Channel 24.
- The shows will take place on March 21, 22 and 23. The band originally set two shows, but a third — March 23 — was added to meet demand. Tickets for it went on sale Friday morning.
The band CAKE is making a return to its hometown Sacramento to play Channel 24 this spring, the venue announced Tuesday.
The indie rock group hasn’t performed in Sacramento since 2019, when fans filled the Golden 1 Center.
“We are thrilled to welcome Cake home!” the Midtown Sacramento venue said in a statement to Abridged. The band is set to perform March 21, 22 and 23. The third show on the 23rd was added to meet popular demand, Channel 24 said on its Facebook page. Tickets went on sale for it on Friday at 10 a.m.
Known for mid 1990s and early 2000s hits like “Short Skirt/Long Jacket” and “The Distance,” the band is back at it — having given a sneak peek at new music. It debuted its song “Billionaire in Space,” last year at Texas Public Radio.
Channel 24 opened earlier this year and is one of a growing number of midsize music venues in the Sacramento region.
“It will be very special to host (CAKE) in a more intimate setting that brings them back to their roots,” Channel 24 stated.
The website said proceeds from the concerts will support local public radio stations.
