The Abridged version:

  • Davis is seeking community comments on proposed changes for a handful of bus routes, including Routes 42A and 42B to Sacramento and the Sacramento International Airport.
  • Multiple Unitrans and Yolobus routes could be altered as part of the city’s update to its Short-Range Transit Plan.
  • You can provide input through an online survey or by attending one of a few pop-up events this month.

Davis is seeking input about proposed changes to bus routes and schedules, city officials announced Monday.

As part of an update to Davis’s Short-Range Transit Plan, city staff identified a handful of transit alterations that they hope will better reflect demand and improve reliability for routes affected by traffic.

The list includes increased weekday frequency on the Yolobus Route 42A and 42B loop that connects Sacramento, West Sacramento, Davis, Woodland and Sacramento International Airport. Buses would operate every 30 minutes on weekdays and every 60 minutes on weekends. At present, the bus operates every 30 minutes in mornings and afternoons and every 45 minutes during middays and evenings, no matter which day of the week.

Before the changes are approved, officials want to hear from the community through an online survey that will be open for the next month.

Changes across Davis

Other proposed changes include:

  • The weekday A line would be discontinued and replaced by Yolobus serving the same area.
  • The B line would be discontinued and replaced with a G line alternative.
  • The F line would extend to Catalina Drive, which doesn’t currently have transit access.
  • The R line would provide a new route between UC Davis Memorial Union and Alvarado Avenue via Oak Avenue.
  • Yolobus 42 line would serve Sutter Davis Hospital on John Jones Road.
  • The last departure from UC Davis terminal would shift from 8 p.m. to around 10 p.m. on Fridays.
  • On weekends, the last departure from Memorial Union Terminal would shift from 6 p.m. to around 8 p.m.
  • The P and Q lines would no longer go to South Davis, which would instead be served by the new S line on weekdays and modified O line on weekends.

Opportunities to comment

Along with the survey, which can be found on the city’s website, social media and on Unitrans buses, staff will be holding pop-up events on Oct. 14, 3-6 p.m. at Silo Terminal, Oct. 15, 3-6 p.m. at Memorial Union Terminal and Oct. 25, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Davis Food Co-op.

The plans would be considered by the city council in summer 2026.
