The Abridged version:
- The Firefly Lounge announced its closure Monday night following a “last hoorah” on Tuesday.
- Owned by Connie Hale-Schuessler for the past nine-and-a-half years, the bar hosted karaoke four nights per week.
- The dive bar served food such as salads, sandwiches and cheeseburgers in addition to drinks.
The lights are going out at the Firefly Lounge, as the Arden Arcade dive bar will shut down following a going-away party Tuesday night.
Owner Connie Hale-Schuessler announced the closure “with a heavy heart” in a Facebook post Monday night.
“While this was not an easy decision to make, I want to take a moment to thank every person who has supported me along the way. The last nine and a half years of drinks, dancing, karaoke, great food, and even better friends that became family have been a blast,” her post read.

Hale-Schuessler bought the bar in 2017, about a year after it opened at 1443 Fulton Ave., and amassed a crew of regulars under neon lights. It hosted karaoke nights on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights, and dancing on Fridays and Saturdays.
Arden Arcade also loses a restaurant, as the Firefly Lounge served breakfast and lunch in addition to drinks. Morning started with breakfast burritos, omelets and rib-eye steaks with eggs before progressing to patty melts, salads and cheeseburgers.
