The Abridged version:
- Part of westbound Highway 50 will be closed Halloween weekend.
- The extended disruption comes on the heels of this week’s overnight closures.
- Detours take drivers around the closure to westbound Interstate 80 or through West Sacramento.
A stretch of westbound Highway 50 connecting Sacramento and Yolo counties will be closing this weekend, meaning drivers should expect delays and plan alternate travel.
Caltrans announced the 55-hour weekend closure of the highway from Interstate 5 to just west of Jefferson Boulevard. The planned disruption, which comes on the heels of the week’s overnight closures, will last from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday.
Along with the closed stretch of highway, several ramps and connectors to Highway 50 will also be out of commission. That includes connectors or ramps from P Street, Jefferson Boulevard, southbound I-5, northbound I-5 and Cabaldon Parkway.
Suggested detours take drivers around the closure to westbound Interstate 80 by way of I-5 or a route through West Sacramento.
Overnight closures have already started. They run 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. through Friday. The full weekend closure begins Halloween night.
Drivers can find real-time traffic information through Caltrans’ Quickmap.
