The California International Marathon will be back in the capital region this Sunday, stretching 26.2 miles between Folsom and downtown Sacramento.
The Sacramento Running Association, host of the event, is expecting 11,000 runners, according to its website.
The race is scheduled to begin at Folsom Dam at 7 a.m., with the finish line by the state Capitol closing at 1:30 p.m.

Where and when will roads be closed in Sacramento?
Drivers in the region can anticipate road closures as early as 2 a.m. Sunday, lasting into the afternoon or as late as 7 p.m. for a stretch of Capitol Mall.
Some of the earliest closures will occur along Folsom Lake Crossing and Folsom-Auburn Road at the start of the race.
Runners will race along L Street for their final miles. The street will be closed to traffic from Alhambra Blvd to 15th Street until 2:15 p.m., and from 15th to Seventh street until 3 p.m.

Where can spectators watch the marathon?
Friends, family or Sacramentans just looking for a reason to cheer on others have multiple options for spectator spots.
The marathon’s official “cheer zones” include:
- At mile 10.1: The intersection of Fair Oaks Boulevard and California Avenue, in Old Town Fair Oaks
- At mile 19.4: The intersection of Watt Avenue and Fair Oaks Boulevard, in Arden Town
- At mile 25: The intersection of 23rd Street and L Street, in Midtown
There will also be a finish line festival, with spectator bleachers near Seventh Street and Capitol Mall.
