The Abridged version:
- “Breath in Rhythm” is a space for men in Sacramento to release stress and process emotions through intentional breathing. Sol Collective hosts the men’s breathwork program every second and fourth Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. This month, the sessions returned to Sol Collective’s building on 21st Street after undergoing renovations.
- The program began in early 2025 when program facilitator and DJ Anand Parmar wanted to create a space where men can let their guard down. He saw a need for these spaces in the community, especially for “brown and black and indigenous men.”
- “Men do not have many options for this kind of thing,” said participant VS Gibbs. He believes the program allows men to discover “that feminine side of them, which is the vulnerable side, which is the empathic side, which is the emotional side.”
