The Abridged version:
- Three candidates are running in Yolo County for the 3rd District supervisor seat. Early returns show Dotty Pritchard is in the lead, with Mayra Vega and Xochitl Rodriguez trailing.
- Mary Vixie Sandy currently holds the seat but did not run for reelection.
- If one candidate gets more than 50% of the vote in the primary, she wins outright. Otherwise, the race will go to November.
Early returns show a frontrunner emerging in the race to succeed Mary Vixie Sandy on the Yolo County Board of Supervisors. Dotty Pritchard is in the lead with Mayra Vega and Xochitl Rodriguez trailing.
With just under 23% of registered voters reported, Pritchard led the three candidates with 43% of the vote as midnight, while Vega had 32.6% and Rodriguez had 24.3%. If one gets more than 50% of the vote in the June 2 primary, she wins the election outright. If not, the top two candidates move on to a runoff in November.
Pritchard, Rodriguez and Vega are running for the 3rd Supervisorial District seat that represents parts of Woodland, Bryte and Broderick in West Sacramento, and Wild Wings.
All three candidates live in Woodland and have held past positions in local government. They all list fiscal responsibility, water, agriculture and housing as priorities, but their backgrounds and endorsements differ.

Dotty Pritchard
Pritchard has been in the District 3 office for 20 years, serving as chief of staff or deputy for Vixie Sandy, Gary Sandy and Matt Rexroad. Her campaign has picked up support from the Yolo County Farm Bureau, local pro-business groups and others. A list of her endorsements can be found here.
Xochitl Rodriguez
Rodriguez is a former mayor of Woodland and was a City Council member from 2016 to 2020. Her campaign has picked up support from local unions, tribes and community organizations. A list of her endorsements can be found here.
Mayra Vega
Mayra Vega is Woodland’s current mayor pro tempore and previously served a term as mayor. Her campaign has picked up support from local elected officials, the Yolo County Democratic Party and some unions. A list of her endorsements can be found here.
